Art School

A project about Art Schools.
I Investigated famous institutes, namely Black Mountain College, North Carolina. A school that only existed from 1933 to 1957 and taught anti-academic progressive principles. I discovered a magazine that had been made by photography students at the college called '5 Photographers.' Only twenty five copies of one issue was published. I re-made the magazine using a doctored BMC review and found images of the school. This re-made work manifested itself into a short 8mm film, based on photographs by Hazel Larsen of the dancer Merce Cunningham dancing in the grounds of Black Mountain College. The project eventually focused onto the Manchester School of Art, where I was studying. I made a book entitled 'A Visit To An Art School' which was a series of images of students past and present printed in blue.
